A Walk in the Park
Ahh… The beauty of mother nature. It always seems to have no boundaries. No limitations. Nothing whatsoever.
For whatever reason, I woke up earlier than usual. It was six thirsty but it was still so dark. Then I remembered, I’m not at home anymore. Yeah, that’s right, its already six thirty in the morning and no hint of sunshine. The sun always rises and sets at seven thirty. That’s how it is in Singapore. Everything is late. That is why I feel I belong here.
It’s going to be a nice day I said to myself. I woke up early but I was still late for work simply because I wanted to be. It’s as simple as that.
People rarely step back and enjoy the little things. Eating lunch. Taking a shower. The morning commute to work. You rarely see someone enjoy these things anymore. It’s just a pain for them to do it. A way to kill time. People should start enjoying themselves some more. Let’s enjoy a little trip down at Simei Street. Let’s enjoy walking home from work (my place is only a fifteen minute walk). And to be honest, I love walking home. That is why I always pray for the weather to be nice and cool. So many sights to see. So? Why don’t we go for a little walk? (Sounds familiar? hahaha)
It was five forty and time to bust out of the office. I don’t like what’s happening this week at work because a) I’m doing the work of the whole group and b) everybody’s in training except me. Well, I don’t mind as long as I get paid for services rendered. ANYWAY, I walk out the street and all you see are warehouses and more warehouses. I live in the Industrial area or whatever. I just call it “probinsya”. Hehehe. The very first thing you would see is the street sign post.

After walking for a little bit I pass this little company. If I remember correctly, this is a Trading Partner of one of former companies. I’m not telling anybody to apply at this company. Hehehe.
If you were with me on this short journey, you’ll notice that technology and nature can really mix. Back in Manila, the urban lifestyle and mother nature never mix. Here, it can. just look at the Train Station station that’s near my work place. Trees surround the station that looks like a turtle shell. Reminds me of the teenage mutant ninja turtles movie coming out this year. I cant’ afford to miss that ;p

Here is a closer look at the train station. At the train station, you wouldn’t wonder why people rarely have to line up to get their MRT cards topped up. They have machines that always work. Not just for display like the ones back home.

After passing by the train station, you get to see the Singapore Expo. It’s a massive place to hold anything. And i really mean anything. Just check out how big the Singapore Expo is. See how small the person beside it is? That thing is freakin HUGE!!

After the station, I approach my favorite part of my walk. Why? Simply because it’s beautiful. You feel like you’re in one of those Koreanovelas. I wish I had someone to walk with because it’s really nice. You can see it here. Ain’t that nice?

AS I pass that road, I get to my condo. It’s a nice place. I’m a bit tired. A little sweaty. But it’s worth it. I love the sights and sounds of Singapore.

But still, I miss the Philippines. I miss the place I call home. I miss the folks I call my friends. But my life goes on. I wouldn’t trade all the things in Manila for this so called life of an OFW. Sure, I get only a fraction of what I’m earning now when I was in Manila, but money isn’t the only thing that could make us happy.
I guess that’s it for this little journey. Thanks for coming along this endeavor of mine. I need to catch some Z’s. I don’t want to be too late at work tomorrow.
